Excellent! Wonderful encouragement and support - both physical and emotional. Helped my neice make informed decisions about the care of herself and her baby.
Just wanted to write a note of thanks to you for coming to my birth, and all the care and support you gave M and I…It’s really appreciated.
Bekah answered our questions related to some prenatal and postpartum issues. She is knowledgeable and enthusiastic and very helpful.
Bekah helped me to get into various positions to alleviate as much pain as possible. She also used counter-pressure to help with my back labor pain. She was very effective in alleviating much of the pain during contractions.
I am the proud mother of a 9 month old son, who is very active, vibrant and healthy.
When I first found out I was pregnant I was not intending to have any type of birthing assistant. As the months went on and my baby grew, my husband’s uncle threw out the idea of hiring a doula. I had all the intention of going to lamaz classes, in order to prepare me for giving birth in a hospital… to which I never did attend. As I entered my third trimester I gave a doula some serious thought and went looking on line for who was in my area. Bekah was the third person I talked to on the phone and knew right away I wanted to set up a meeting with her. We met approximately 2 months before my son was born. She was great in answering all of my questions, brought along pictures, articles and related material for my benefit. We also had two additional meetings before the birth, to go over any questions, fears or concerns that may have come up.
When the time came to go to the hospital, Bekah was awesome! She met us at our home and took one look at me and said “yep, let’s go, it’s time.” My husband was a huge support and in the excitement of the delivery Bekah offered him ideas on what foods/fluids to give me and what he could do to make me more comfortable throughout the contractions.
Bekah was great with watching my needs throughout the labor and really spoke to the hospital staff with my interests at heart. She helped remind me and my husband that what they were offering was optional and not mandatory. Even though we went to the hospital, we prefer to be as natural as possible! We did not allow the antibiotic drops in the eyes, the epidural, pain medications or synthetic hormones the hospital uses to speed up the birthing process. Bekah helped us communicate more effectively & professionally with the hospital staff, and made sure there was compliance. We were first time parents, not knowing fully how the hospital birth functioned. She was our eyes and ears during the birth to ensure compliance to our wishes.
Two weeks after Jonathan was born Bekah came to see us at our home to check in, she also brought a detailed memo of what happened at the hospital – which was GREAT! It was nice to look back and realize what had really happened! The time really flew (14 hours -believe it or not!) and all the little events are forgotten when a new baby is placed in your arms.
The entire birthing process was made more comfortable and rewarding by having had Bekah step in as our Doula. I would highly recommend her and will be giving her a call when it is time to have our second child. Thank you Bekah!
